Cole Wendler, 23, of Edwardsville, Illinois, was charged on July 10, 2023, with two charges of aggravated driving while drunk causing death (class 2 felony) and two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated causing death (class 2 felony).
On July 8, 2023, at about 1:41 a.m., Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 8 requested assistance from the ISP Public Safety Enforcement Group (PSEG) for an investigation into a fatal automobile collision that happened on Interstate 55 southbound at milepost 15 in Madison County.
